FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1230 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON FOR SOUTHEASTERN HARRISON, BULLITT, NORTHERN HARDIN AND SOUTHEASTERN MEADE COUNTIES


A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect for this area until 12:30 PM EDT. This is a dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1230 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON FOR SOUTHEASTERN HARRISON, BULLITT, NORTHERN HARDIN AND SOUTHEASTERN MEADE COUNTIES...

At 1144 AM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 10 inches
of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.

SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Shepherdsville, Pioneer Village, Radcliff, Mount Washington,
Hillview, Vine Grove, Lebanon Junction, Hebron Estates, Muldraugh
and West Point.

Information:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely and have them relay your report to the National
Weather Service in Louisville.

thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
2.4 and 9 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.

Indiana...

Blue River at Fredericksburg affecting Harrison and Washington
Counties.

.Heavy rain from the past 24 hours will cause the river to rise.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Blue River at Fredericksburg.

* WHEN...From this morning to late this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Water covers parts of
Fredericksburg-Depauw Road near river.
At 22.0 feet, Backroads in town flood. Water approaches US 150.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 5:30 AM EDT Saturday the stage was 19.8 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.8
feet this morning. It will then fall below flood stage late
this morning.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
21.0 feet on 06/27/2013.
