The National Weather Service in Gaylord has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
A Dam Floodgate Release in...
Western Alcona County in northern Michigan...
East Central Oscoda County in northern Michigan...

* Until 330 PM EDT Monday.

* At 328 AM EDT, dam operators reported the floodgates on the Mio
Dam were opened causing flash flooding downstream on the Au Sable
River.

HAZARD...Flash flooding from a dam floodgate release.

SOURCE...Dam operator.

IMPACT...Flooding of areas along the river immediately
downstream of the dam.

* The nearest downstream town is Mio and then McKinley...located
about 9.5 miles from the dam. Areas downstream from the Mio Dam
along the Au Sable River should be prepared for flooding.

Flooding is occurring along the Au Sable River.

Information:
If you are in low lying areas below the Mio Dam you should move to
higher ground immediately. Do not attempt to drive across flooded
roadways.

For the Au Sable River...including Red Oak...Moderate flooding is
forecast.

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
This approaches the flood of record.

* WHERE...Au Sable River near Red Oak.

* WHEN...From early this morning to early Friday afternoon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:45 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 7.1 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 6.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 11:45 PM EDT Sunday was 7.1 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 8.5
feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood
stage Friday morning.
- Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
6.9 feet on 04/15/2014.
