...A SPECIAL MARINE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1245 AM HST... For the following areas... Big Island Leeward Waters... Big Island Southeast Waters... Big Island Windward Waters... At 1055 PM HST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 11 nm east of FAD Buoy SS, or 19 nm south of Kalapana, moving northeast at 50 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts in excess of 50 knots. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural damage in high winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher waves. Locations impacted include... Cape Kumukahi, FAD Buoy A, South Point, FAD Buoy HK, FAD Buoy E, FAD Buoy D, FAD Buoy G, and FAD Buoy SS.
Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding downpours. Stay low or go below, and make sure all on board are wearing life jackets.
