SOUTHWEST OF HOUMA.

- The Tropical Storm Watch has been cancelled for Northern
Hancock, Northern Harrison, Northern Jackson, and St. John The
Baptist

* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
- A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Central Jefferson,
Central Plaquemines, Central St. Charles, Coastal Jefferson,
Eastern Orleans, Lower Lafourche, Lower Plaquemines, Lower St.
Bernard, Lower St. Charles, Lower Terrebonne, Southeast St.
Tammany, Southern Hancock, Southern Harrison, Southern Jackson,
Upper Jefferson, Upper Plaquemines, Upper St. Bernard, Upper
St. Charles, and Western Orleans
- A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Upper Lafourche and

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Tropical Storm Bertha made landfall near the Biloxi Wildlife
Management Area in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana at around 200 PM CDT.
The storm is now near the southern Louisiana coast southwest of Houma
and will continue to move westward at a little faster speed.

Coastal flooding has been observed at the Shell Beach and Waveland
observation stations and additional minor to moderate coastal flooding
upwards of 2 to 3 feet is expected during the high tide cycle for
portions of coastal Louisiana and Mississippi through Thursday
morning.

Light rainfall is occurring with this storm over land areas though
additional heavier rainfall will be possible through Thursday for
coastal areas of Mississippi and southeast Louisiana. The threat of
excessive rainfall has decreased across all of southeast Louisiana and
south Mississippi.

No changes have been made to Tropical Storm Warnings with this
advisory package. Tropical Storm Watches have been discontinued for
Lake Maurepas and the inland portions of the Mississippi coastal
counties. No changes to Coastal Flood Warnings and Advisories have
been made with this advisory package.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
Potential impacts from the main wind event are now unfolding across
Coastal Southeast Louisiana and Coastal Mississippi. Remain well
sheltered from hazardous wind having possible limited impacts.
If realized, these impacts include:
- Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored
mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.
- Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or
uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are
shallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blown over.
- A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban
or heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on
bridges and other elevated roadways.
- Scattered power and communications outages.

Elsewhere across Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi, little to
no impact is anticipated.

* SURGE:
Potential limited impacts from the main surge event are now unfolding
across portions of Coastal Southeast Louisiana and Coastal Mississippi.
These  impacts include:
- Localized inundation with storm surge flooding mainly along
immediate shorelines and in low-lying spots, or in areas
farther inland near where higher surge waters move ashore.
- Sections of near-shore roads and parking lots become overspread
with surge water. Driving conditions dangerous in places where
surge water covers the road.
- Moderate beach erosion. Heavy surf also breaching dunes, mainly
in usually vulnerable locations. Strong rip currents.
- Minor to locally moderate damage to marinas, docks, boardwalks,
and piers. A few small craft broken away from moorings.

Elsewhere across Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi, little to
no impact is anticipated.

* FLOODING RAIN:
No impacts are anticipated at this time across Southeast Louisiana and
South Mississippi.

* TORNADOES:
No impacts are anticipated at this time across Southeast Louisiana and
South Mississippi.

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Tropical Storm Bertha made landfall near the Biloxi Wildlife
Management Area in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana at around 200 PM CDT.
The storm continues to move westward and inland into southeast
Louisiana where it will be capable of producing wind gusts upwards of
45 to 50 mph at times within the tropical storm warning and watch
areas, especially near the coastal areas of southeast Louisiana.

Coastal flooding has been observed at the Shell Beach and Waveland
observation stations and additional minor to moderate coastal flooding
upwards of 2 to 3 feet is expected during the high tide cycle for
portions of coastal Louisiana and Mississippi through Thursday
morning.

Light to moderate rainfall is occurring with this storm over land
areas though additional heavier rainfall will be possible through
Thursday for coastal areas of Mississippi and southeast Louisiana. The
threat of excessive rainfall has decreased for areas along and north
of the I-10/12 corridor.

No changes have been made to Tropical Storm Warnings or Watches with
this advisory package. No changes to Coastal Flood Warnings and
Advisories have been changed with this advisory package.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS

Prepare for hazardous wind having possible limited impacts across
portions of Coastal Southeast Louisiana and Coastal Mississippi.
Potential impacts in this area include:

Potential impacts include:
- Localized rainfall flooding may prompt a few evacuations.
- Rivers and tributaries may quickly rise with swifter currents.
Small streams, creeks, canals, and ditches may become swollen
and overflow in spots.
- Flood waters can enter a few structures, especially in usually
vulnerable spots. A few places where rapid ponding of water
occurs at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage
areas. Several storm drains and retention ponds become
near-full and begin to overflow. Some brief road and bridge
closures.

* TORNADOES:
No impacts are anticipated at this time across Southeast Louisiana and
South Mississippi.
