...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flooding caused by rain, snowmelt, and ice jams continues to be possible. * WHERE...The southwest Adirondacks, the western Mohawk Valley, and the Upper Hudson Valley. * WHEN...Through this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Mild temperatures over the past few days has allowed snow on the ground to ripen and melt. In addition, there have been periods of moderate to heavy rain. The combination of runoff from snow melt and rainfall will continue to result in rising rivers that will likely cause ice to break up and move, potentially resulting in ice jams and associated flooding. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
