...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT TUESDAY... * WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 6 to 21 feet in the surf zone. In addition, a Coastal Flood Statement is in effect for splashover and pockets of very minor coastal flooding that are possible during the afternoon astronomical high tide. * WHERE...Eastern Plymouth MA, Eastern Essex MA, Barnstable MA and Nantucket MA Counties. * WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 8 PM EDT Tuesday. For the Coastal Flood Statement, from Monday morning through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Minor coastal flooding is expected along the North Shore from Gloucester to Newburyport. Wave action will likely cause some washover onto coastal roads around the time of high tide. Minor coastal flooding begins on Easy Street in Nantucket. Expect minor coastal flooding of some low-lying roadways. Minor coastal flooding occurs in Provincetown, in the vicinity of Race Point Road and Provincetown Airport. In Truro backwater flooding occurs along the Pamet River. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion.
Do not drive through flooded roadways. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
